Last week, Hearthstone by the Bay resident Gunnar Lindberg, explained why he loves living at Hearthstone. In today’s blog post, Hank Muzerie tells us what a typical day for him is like at Hearthstone.

I was born and raised in Amsterdam and moved to Canada in the 1960’s. After living in Halifax and throughout Ontario, I eventually made the decision to relocate to Toronto in 2011 because I wanted to be closer to my children who live in the area.

When I started looking around Etobicoke for a retirement residence to settle in, I found my first selection rather depressing. Surprisingly, a receptionist at one residence I looked at referred me to Hearthstone by the Bay and so I dropped by for a personal visit and met several residents. I instantly liked it and felt very comfortable so I decided not to look any further.

Hearthstone by the Bay is quite a unique concept and I have not seen anything like it before. It offers an independent style of living but residents still have the opportunity to socialise with each other frequently. I like its proximity to the water and parklands as well as its proximity to multicultural neighbourhoods.

I’m an early bird so a typical day for me starts with an early morning walk, an exercise class or a workout in the Hearthstone gym. I regularly go to the coffee socials or play snooker or bridge with the fellas’. I also love the fact that Hearthstone suites come equipped with a full kitchen as I prefer to cook my own meals. I do however, have lunch occasionally in the dining room or meet with my daughter for dinner.

Above all, I like the fact that I have more contact with my grandchildren that are 11 and 14 years old. I enjoy watching them play sports.
